Finding a natural and healthy toothpaste in market is hard nowadays, as if you want to find an all natural one, the list of ingredients you have to avoid: diethanolamine, propylene glycol, fluoride, aspartame, saccharine, sodium lauryl sulfate, Triclosan, glycerin, sorbitol, and microbeads. While there is almost no such commercial products when you’re shopping. So why not make your own toothpaste, then you can avoid these ingredients by mixing the healthy ingredients for teeth and gums health.
Following these easy-to-make and money-saving toothpaste recipes let you bypass those ingredients that commercial toothpastes often contain:
Simple toothpaste recipe
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, finely ground
- 1 drop peppermint essential oil or citrus essential oil (optional)
- A few drops of water
Mix all these ingredients together in a bowl, stir the mixture until you get a thick paste. Add it on your toothbrush when brushing your teeth.
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 6 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon hydrogen peroxide
- A few drops of peppermint essential oil(optional)
Mix the ingredients in a bowl, stir to mix them well, if it’s runny, add more baking soda, and if it’s too dry, add more coconut oil until you get a proper paste texture. Use the paste as usual, and if you prefer a sweeter paste, you can also add a few drops of stevia.
- 4 tablespoons bentonite clay
- 5 drops tea tree oil
- 10 drops peppermint essential oil
- 2 teaspoons unrefined sea salt
- A few drops of water
Mix the ingredients well, stir until you achieve a good paste texture. This homemade toothpaste tastes great as it’s flavored with essential oils. Use it as usual.
